Fellow (Fixed Term) Centre for Health Research & Psycho-oncology
The Centre for Health Research & Psycho-oncology (CHeRP)
is a successful
behavioural research unit. CHeRP is seeking
to appoint a post-doctoral fellow to contribute to CHeRP’s
current program of work into the behavioural aspects of cancer.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in behavioural science,
social science or public health and be establishing a record
of achievement in population health research. Experience in cancer
control or psycho-oncology research would be advantageous. This
position is available full-time on a 3-year fixed term basis
(Academic Level B $65,064-$77,261), based at The University of

The Psychosocial Oncology Program at Dana-Farber
Cancer Institute is recruiting full-time PGY V fellows
in Psychiatry to service the clinical needs of a growing
academic psychosocial oncology service based at Dana-Farber
Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
(Fellowship period: July - June)
Responsibilities will include clinical services to
cancer patients and their families, consultation and
follow-up with inpatients, development of collaborative
relationships with oncology subspecialty practices,
and other disciplines. Mentored research and teaching
opportunities are available. Clinical opportunities
in palliative care are also offered. The fellow will
be supervised by Psychosocial Oncology Program faculty.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Psycho-Oncology
The LIFE (Ladies Professional Golf Association In the Fight
to Eradicate Breast Cancer) Center at the Cancer Institute of
New Jersey, UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School currently
has one opening for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow
in
psycho-oncology. The LIFE Fellow will be dedicated to the development
and conduct of basic and/or applied behavioral science and inter-disciplinary
research that furthers the goals of the LIFE Center: understanding
biopsychosocial processes that increase young women's risk for
breast cancer, developing innovative risk-reduction strategies,
evaluating the efficacy of those interventions, and exporting
effective risk-reduction programs to the broader community.
The LIFE Fellow will participate in all aspects of project development,
implementation, evaluation and dissemination, including collaborating
with a multi-disciplinary research team, writing grants and protocols,
supervising research assistants, managing data, conducting analyses,
preparing manuscripts and presenting findings. The LIFE Fellow
will also have the opportunity to provide related clinical psychological
services under supervision.
Qualified candidates will have completed a doctoral degree in
psychology, or related field. Initial commitment will be for one
year with potential second year appointment. UMDNJ offers a competitive

Clinical Fellowship in Psycho-Oncology
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center offers two-year clinical fellowships
designed to provide training in the recognition and management
of common psychiatric syndromes in cancer patients. The first
year emphasizes clinical care; the second year includes opportunities
to participate in clinical investigation. Applicants must have
completed one of two tracks: an MD with residency training in
psychiatry or medicine or a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology
with at least one year experience beyond internship in a medical
setting. The clinical fellowship at MSKCC is a CL Psychiatry
training
program accredited by the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.

Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Psychiatry and Behavioral
Sciences
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center invites applications for faculty
positions in cancer prevention and control and postdoctoral research
positions in psychological and behavioral aspects of cancer and
AIDS.
Faculty position(s) Qualifications include doctoral degree in
psychology, public health, or other behavioral sciences with interest/expertise
in cancer prevention and control. Postdoctoral fellowship, strong
publication record, and demonstrated success in obtaining peer-reviewed
research funding preferred. Successful candidates will be expected
to design and implement innovative programs of research in cancer
prevention and control, mentor pre- and postdoctoral research
trainees, and participate in departmental didactic curriculum
in psycho-oncology research.
Postdoctoral research fellowships provide 2-year mentored training
in the areas of: smoking cessation and prevention; enhancing adherence
to cancer screening and risk reduction life-style recommendation;
psychosocial interventions for cancer and AIDS patients and their
families; behavioral medicine approaches to symptom management
in cancer and AIDS; assessment of quality of life in cancer and
AIDS; neuropsychology and pediatric psycho-oncology. Ph.D. in
psychology or other behavioral sciences and prior experience in
clinical research medical settings preferred. Fellows will actively
participate in all aspects of project development, grant writing,
supervision of data collection, liaison with multidisciplinary
co-investigators, data analyses, and dissemination of findings
via oral presentations and manuscript preparation.

Clinical Fellowship in Pain and Palliative Care
The Pain and Palliative Care Service in the Department of Neurology
at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) is seeking BE/BC
physicians for a pain and palliative care fellowship. This is
a 1-2 year position which offers comprehensive training in pain
management and palliative care. Fellows will participate in clinical
investigations of neuro-oncologic pain syndromes, the pharmacology
of opioid analgesics, and quality of life.

Fellowship in Pain and Palliative Care
The Palliative Care Division of a new Department of Pain Medicine
and Palliative Care is seeking BE/BC physicians for a fellowship
in Pain and Palliative Care. This is a 1-2 year training opportunity
that offers participation in an interdisciplinary team providing
care for patients with diverse diagnoses in both inpatient and
outpatient settings. Resources include service opportunities in
multiple hospitals, a closely allied program in nonmalignant pain
management, an 18-bed inpatient pain and palliative care unit,
and a well-established hospice. Clinical training will emphasize
assessment, expertise in the treatment of pain and other symptoms,
integration of multimodality therapies to address other quality-of-life
concerns, and comprehensive management of end-of-life issues.
Fellows will also participate in the clinical investigations and
educational initiatives developed through the Department's Institute
for Research and Education in Pain and Palliative Care.

Nursing Fellowship in Pain and Palliative Care
The Pain
and Palliative Care Service in the Department of Neurology and
the Department of Nursing at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
offer a Nursing Fellowship in cancer pain management and palliative
care. This one-year fellowship provides a stipend of $40,000 (housing
is not provided) and offers comprehensive training in a multidisciplinary
approach to cancer-pain evaluation and treatment and palliative
care. Nursing Fellows will participate in inpatient and outpatient
pain assessment, the use of opioid drugs by conventional and novel
routes, cognitive and behavioral approaches to pain control, and
supportive care. Candidates must have a current New York State
license, be master's prepared and have a two-year oncology background.

Fellowship in Consultation Psychiatry
Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vermont
This is a one-year, full-time fellowship in consultation psychiatry
at Fletcher Allen Health Care, the largest hospital in Vermont.
It is offered to qualified physicians at the PGY-5 level and requires
that the candidate has satisfactorily completed residency training
in psychiatry and is eligible for medical licensure in Vermont.
Fletcher Allen Health Care is the Academic Medical Center of the
University of Vermont College of Medicine. There is no on-call
requirement.
The Psychiatric Consultation Service (PCS) consults to all medical
and surgical services in the hospital. We perform about 600 new
consultations each year. There is also a large outpatient component
to the service with particular emphasis on patients with concurrent
non-psychiatric illness, those with HIV/AIDS, and those with
terminal
illnesses. The fellow is welcome to become an active participant
in psychiatric consultation to one or more other services and
to establish their own outpatient clinic—all under the
supervision of the PCS director.
