Welcome to IPOS!
Founded in 1984, the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) was created to foster international multidisciplinary communication about clinical, educational and research issues that relate to the subspecialty of psycho-oncology and two primary psychosocial dimensions of cancer: 1) Response of patients, families and staff to cancer and its treatment at all stages; 2) Psychological, social and behavioral factors that influence tumor progression and survival.

Make sure you're up-to-date with your IPOS membership to receive discounts on books and journals, your 15th World Congress registration and to participate in the worldwide network of psycho-oncology professionals. Just click on the link above, log in and follow instructions to renew for 2013.

Distress may soon be universally ranked as the 6th vital sign in cancer care, following the Union of International Cancer Control’s (UICC) endorsement
of the IPOS recommendation that cancer care standards and clinical practice guidelines be revised. See the standards of care news page for details on endorsing the IPOS standard. Click here to see all the organizations that already have endorsed it.
Membership is open to individuals with a diversity of clinical and research backgrounds. These include, but are not limited to, physicians, social workers, nurses, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, epidemiologists, social scientists, and educators. Through individual memberships and its Federation, IPOS includes and serves over 5,000 professionals in more than 40 countries.
