Fisman Award for Lifetime Clinical Excellence
This award, being given for the first time in 2008, honors the memory
of Noemi Fisman, a psychologist from Buenos Aires who, as a child and adult
psychologist, developed the first psychosocial services and education efforts
in Argentina. She was a member of the IPOS Board of Directors and recognized
the importance of extending work in psycho-oncology to an international
level. She epitomizes the importance of clinician-educators in the field
of psycho-oncology. IPOS seeks to honor Dr. Fisman’s memory by awarding
a clinician-educator from the international psycho-oncology community.
Purpose
The Noemi Fisman Award for Lifetime Clinical Excellence
in Psycho-oncology is presented to a clinician
in recognition of outstanding clinical contributions
to the field of psycho-oncology. This award
will be presented for the first time at the
10th World Congress of Psycho-Oncology in Madrid,
Spain in June 2008, and the award recipient
will be asked to speak briefly after the award
is given.
Eligibility
Nominees must demonstrate outstanding clinical
contributions to the field of psycho-oncology.
Additionally, candidates must be licensed and actively
practicing in the field of psycho-oncology for
a minimum of 10 years.
To
nominate an IPOS or community member for this award, please send the
following nomination materials to IPOS Headquarters:
- a curriculum vitae (or resume) of the nominee;
- a letter of nomination from a professional that
specifically states why the nominee is deserving
of the award
by providing evidence
for how the individual has contributed to the enhancement
of psycho-oncology clinical care; and
- a letter of nomination from a client that
specifically states why the nominee is deserving
of the award by providing evidence for how the individual
has contributed to the enhancement of psycho-oncology
clinical care.

Hiroomi
Kawano New Investigator Award
Purpose
The Kawano Award is presented to a new investigator
(who has achieved qualification within the
past 5 years) for outstanding research contributions
in psych-oncology. This award
will be presented at the 10th World Congress
of Psycho-Oncology in Madrid, Spain
in June 2008. This award
is sponsored by the Hiroomi Kawano Foundation
in Japan.
Eligibility
Candidates must be within five
(5) years of completing
their graduate training, fellowship or equivalent
specialist training (defined as a PhD or MD degree
or equivalent). The successful candidate will be
invited to submit an original
manuscript
for
publication in the journal Psycho-Oncology.
The announcement of the award will be made at the
10th
World Congress.
For
award consideration, please send the following nomination
materials to IPOS Headquarters:
- a
nomination letter (confidential) by a Full Member
of any National Psycho-Oncology Society or an
Active Member of IPOS;
- a
complete curriculum vitae, with details of specific
termination dates of degrees and post-graduate
training;
- a
statement from the nominee, not to exceed 500 words,
that highlights significant research accomplishments
in the area of psycho-oncology;
and
- copies
of up to four reprints of publications that represent
the candidate’s
work in the area.

Bernard
Fox Memorial Award
Purpose
The Fox Award is to honor an IPOS or community
member who has made an outstanding contribution
(practice, education, research, and leadership)
to the field of psycho-oncology. This award
will be presented at the 10th World Congress
of Psycho-Oncology in Madrid, Spain
in June 2008, and the award recipient
will be asked to speak after the award is given.
The award recipient is also invited to publish
his/her lecture
in the official journal of IPOS, Psycho-Oncology.
Eligibility
To nominate an IPOS or community member for this
award, please send the following to IPOS Headquarters:
- a
curriculum vitae (or resume) of the nominee;
- a
letter of nomination that specifically states
why the nominee is deserving of the award by providing
evidence for how the individual has contributed
to

The Arthur M. Sutherland Award is to honor an individual
who has achieved a lifetime achievement in
the field of psycho-oncology. This award
will be presented at the 10th World Congress
of Psycho-Oncology in Madrid, Spain
in June 2008, and the award recipient
will be asked
to speak after the award is given. The award recipient
is also invited to publish his/her lecture
in the official journal of IPOS, Psycho-Oncology.
