LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer can experience unique psychosocial challenges, disparities in healthcare experiences and barriers to inclusive and affirming support. It is essential that we work towards equity, through a focus on person-centred care and psycho-oncology has an important role in improving outcomes and experiences for LGBTIQ+ communities worldwide.
This International Webinar will be hosted by the International Psycho-Oncology Society's Early Career Professionals in Psycho- Oncology Committee. The webinar will bring together community partners, clinicians, researchers and people with lived experience to explore inclusive psychosocial cancer care. Speakers from OUTpatients and Queering Cancer will share insights from their work supporting LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer, alongside Sarah-Jane Myatt who will share personal reflections.
The webinar will encourage discussion around equity, visibility, psychologically safe care, and practical actions that can be taken by healthcare professionals, researchers, and supporting organisations to foster more inclusive cancer care.
