Overview
The annual IPOS World Congress of Psycho-Oncology has attendees from around
the world who work in psychosocial cancer care. These attendees represent
diverse fields from more than 52 countries who dialogue about improving
cancer care on an international level and developing strategies to add psychosocial
issues to all aspects of cancer control. The attendees include, but are
not limited to, those who work as physicians, social workers, nurses, psychologists,
rehabilitation specialists, epidemiologists, social scientists and educators.
Theme
This year's theme is Advancing Culturally Diverse Approaches in Psycho-Oncology
and Palliative Care.
Location
The beautiful city of Madrid was selected as the location for the 10th
World Congress of Psycho-Oncology. Madrid is located in the center
of the beautiful Iberian peninsula of Spain. It is serviced by
the Barajas National Airport, approximately one half-hour by bus
from the city. Madrid is easily traveled via its fast, convenient
and straightforward metro system (subway). Nestled in the Castilla
y León and Castilla-La Mancha mountain ranges, Madrid boasts an average
temperature of 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) in the
summer months of June to August. The city center, Puerta del Sol
(the Gateway of the Sun) is an excellent starting point to see
many of Madrid's major historic landmarks in the old city.
