The Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO) is now accepting abstracts for posters, papers, and workshops for the 27th Annual Meeting to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, 25 -28 April 2012. The conference theme is Shifting Paradigms: New Directions in Psychosocial Oncology across the cancer trajectory - prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, post-treatment, palliative care. Psychosocial oncology professionals in all disciplines are encouraged to submit abstracts. Abstracts are due by December 1, 2011. http://www.capo.ca/conferenceevents/capo-conference/

The South African Oncology Social Work Association (SAOSWA) was recently contacted by the publishers of a new Life Science (Biology) textbook for 15/16 year olds in high schools throughout their country, requesting the use of the SAOSWA logo in the text. The book includes a section on cancer, but more importantly acknowledges the impact of this disease on the family as well as the patient. The publishers use the SAOSWA logo to indicate to students that there is psychosocial support available for patients with cancer and their family members. See a scan of the page here.
